Francis Marois

Prior to joining Globevest Capital Ltd. in February 2021, Francis had a career in financial markets for 20 years at National Bank of Canada. From November 1999 until the beginning of 2002, his responsibilities grew rapidly through an initial mandate of market risk management in fixed income securities, currencies and derivatives.

He then joined the ranks of corporate treasury, in the short-term financing team, where he held various positions and rose through the ranks before leading the team for 10 years, from June 2006. His main responsibilities were to coordinate the multi-currency financing activities across the Bank’s three business centers (Montreal, NY and London). One of his main achievements was to meet the challenge of managing with aplomb and on the front lines this crucial function for the Bank during the financial crisis of 2007-2008 and the period of transformation that followed. Its mandate was to optimize the management of financing activities while facing an increasing number of constraints (internal and external / regulatory risk limits in terms of liquidity, market risk, capital, etc.).

Then, he held a position of Managing Director in the Investments, Rates and Credits team (still in corporate treasury) for a period of three and a half years. Economic and market analysis, the optimization of the positioning of interest rate, basis and XCCY risks in order to maximize the group’s profitability as well as the maintenance and development of relations with internal and external counterparties were part of his mandate.

Francis will now use his several years of experience with a major financial institution to perpetuate a healthy culture of compliance within our firm. Note that he is also involved in the management of our real estate fund as a Real Estate Asset Manager.
